Benjamin Watchorn 

 

Benjamin, the son of Thomas and Sarah Watchorn, was born in Harby on 10 August 1880. He married Edith Kate Bust on 6 March 1905 at Ab Kettleby, Leicestershire, and they had seven children – May, Katie, Norman, Roland, Raymond, Isobel and Stuart. When he and Edith lived at Redmile, they had their own farm (the first to be bought from the Duke of Rutland’s estate). He died 24 May 1954. Edith was born in Ab Kettleby in January 1883 and died 28 February 1951.

In the 1939 Register, Ben Watchorn is living in Chapel Lane, Bingham, near Nottingham, with his son Norman who is a chauffeur and daughters Katie and Isobel, an embroidery machinist
