George Look (Snr)
George Look and his twin sister Martha were born in Glastonbury, Somerset, in 1801, to Thomas (1755-1827) and Mary [Tarzwell] Look (1762-1827). His other brothers and sisters were: Thomas (1784-1855), Anna (1785-1858), Sarah (1786-1859), Mary (1789-1828), William (1791-), John (1798-1832), James (1803-57), Elizabeth (1805-) and Charles (1805-84).
He married Mary Ann Tabor Welchman, who was born on 23 November 1805, in Bath, Somerset, on 21 May 1826.
They had seven children in 14 years – William (1827), Mary (1828), Sarah (1833), George (1834), Elizabeth (1837), Ellen (1839) and Matthew (1841). He died on 7 May 1871 in Ditcheat, Somerset, at the age of 70, and was buried there. Mary Ann died on 27 January 1892 at the age of 86 years and was also buried in Ditcheat.
George Look married Mary Ann Tabor Welchman on 21 May 1826 in the parish of St James, Bath, Somerset.
George Look was 70 when he died in 1871 and he was buried on 13 May in Ditcheat, Somerset.
Mary Ann died 21 years after her husband George in 1892 at the age of 86 and is also buried in Ditcheat.
In the 1841 census George Look (Snr) and his wife Mary are living with all seven of their children at Lower Sutton Farm, Ditcheat.
George Look (Snr) is farming 284 acres with 12 labourers in the 1851 census. He and Mary Ann have five children living at home: William (24), Sarah Ann (18), George (16), Ellen (12) and Matthew (10).
In the census of 1861, George Look (Snr) and his wife, Mary Ann, are farming 276 acres and three of their children, George (26), Elizabeth (24) and Matthew (20) are still at home.
George Look (Snr) is 70 while his wife Mary Ann is 65 in the last census that they're both alive – 1871.
In the census of 1881 Mary Ann is a widow receiving a pension and living with a servant.
Mary Ann is 84 is the 1891 census and her daughter Elizabeth, now 54, is living with her as is a nurse and a servant.
