George Look (Jnr)
George Look was born in Tintinhull, Somerset, on 16 August 1834 to farmers George Look (Snr) and Mary Ann Tabor Welchman. George had two brothers and four sisters: William (1827-91), Mary Ann Welchman (1828-92), Sarah Ann Welchman (1833-1909), Elizabeth (1837-1909), Emma Ellen (1839-55) and Matthew Tabor (1841-63).
He married Anna Couzens Corpe, who was born on 12 July 1844, at the Church of St Mary Magdalene in Ditcheat, Somerset, on 31 May 1870. The couple went on to have 11 children listed below.
George farmed at Alhampton and was the church warden at Ditcheat for many years. He died on 21 August 1912 and is buried at St Mary Magdalene Church, while Anna died on 9 June 1925 and she, too, is buried there.

George, the son of George Look (Snr) and Mary Ann Tabor Welchman, was christened on 27 August 1834.

George Look (Jnr) makes his first appearance in the 1841 census as the fourth child of George Look (1801-71) and Mary Ann (1805-92).

George Look and Anna Couzens Corpe were married at the parish church of Ditcheat on 31 May 1870.

The census of 1891 shows the Look family lived at Lower Sutton Farm. Jack was four years old while his older sisters Ada Margaret, who would go on to marry Ted Tilley, was 10, and Edith Anna, who later married Herb Tilley, was 14.

George Look (Jnr) was 16 years old in the 1851 census. His parents have four other children: William (24), Sarah Ann (18), Ellen (12) and Matthew John (10).

In the census of 1861, George was 26 and his parents, George Look (1801-71) and Mary Ann Tabor [Welchman] (1805-92), were farming 276 acres.

A year after their marriage, George and Anna Look had an eight-day-old baby, their daughter Mary Ann Welchman, in the 1871 census. Staying with them was a nurse as well as a general servant.

George and his wife Anna are living in Alhampton with a farm of 240 acres employing seven labourers in the 1881 census.

George Look (Jnr) married Anna Couzens Corpe, daughter of James Corpe and Jane Norton, in 1870 in Shepton Mallet District, Somerset. Anna was born in Pilton, Somerset, christened on 11 August 1844 in St John The Baptist. She died on 9 June 1925 and was buried in St Mary Magdalene Church, Ditcheat, Somerset.

The probate of George Look’s will was granted to his executors, his widow and Walter Hugh, one of his sons. £4400 in 1912 is about £400,000 today.

In the census of 1911 George and Anna were still living in Alhampton with one of their children, 31-year-old Annie Ellen.

The death of George Look on 21 August 1912 was reported by his son Edward Henry with the cause given as cerebral thrombosis (stroke).

The headstone at St Mary Magdalene, Ditcheat, reads: George LOOK, died 21 Aug 1912, aged 78. And his wife, Anna Couzens, died 9 June 1925, aged 80. Also his son, John Leopold, 2nd Lieut: 3rd Battn: Glos: Regt:, “killed in action at Arras”, 1 Sept 1918, aged 31.
