Barbara Helen Margaret [Tilley] May
Barbara was born on 12 April 1912 in Loxton, Somerset, the third child of Ted and Margaret [Look] Tilley. Her siblings were Jim, George, Bruce, Dick, Hugh, Rachel and Ursula.
She married Arthur Cyril Price May, a market gardener, in 1937 at St Andrew’s Church, Loxton, and they had one son, Arthur Edward (1938-84), and a daughter, Margaret. Barbara died on 1 June 1984.

Barbara was baptised at St Andrew's Church, Loxton, on 3 June 1912.


Arthur, who was a market gardener, and Barbara May lived at 21 Manor Road, Weston-super-Mare in the 1939 Register with their one-year-old son Arthur.

The wedding took place on Saturday at St Andrew’s Church, Loxton, near Axbridge, of Mr Arthur Cyril Price May, son of the Rev. A. May and the late Mrs May, of Connaught Place, Weston-super-Mare, and Miss Barbara Helen Margaret Tilley, daughter of Mr and Mrs Edward Tilley, of Manor Farm, Loxton.
The bridegroom’s father, the Rev. P. Marshall (the rector of Loxton) and Prebendary G.L. Porcher (rector of Weston-super-Mare) officiated. Mr R. Roberts was the organist.
The bride wore an ivory crêpe eloque gown, with wreath and gown, and carried a bouquet of white lilac and myrtle. She was attended by Miss Rachel Tilley (her sister) and Miss Irene May (sister of bridegroom). They wore frocks of white lace, with mauve buttons and belts and white lace caps trimmed with mauve lilac. Mr George Tilley was best man, and Mr F. Fisher and Mr H. Wigley, groomsmen.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Manor Farm, Loxton, the home of the bride’s parents, and later the newly wedded couple left for Sidmouth where the honeymoon is being spent.
The bride travelled in a green tweed coat, green printed crêpe-de-Chine frock, and a fox fur.
