Robert Norton Look

 

Robert Norton Look, the son of farmers George (Jnr) and Anna Couzens [Corpe] Look, was born on 25 November 1877 in Ditcheat, Somerset. His wife Mary Ann Champion Board was born on 16 May 1880 in East Pennard. They were married on 10 May 1910 at St Mary Magdalene Church, Ditcheat. The couple went on to have five children: Vera, Beryl, Audrey, Leslie and Robert Norton (Jnr). Robert died on 11 April 1943 while Mary Ann passed away on 24 February 1952 and they are buried in the churchyard at St Mary Magdalene.

Robert Look was assisted on his dairy farm by his son Robert Norton (Jnr) in the 1939 register. His daughter, Beryl, born in 1916, was also living at home.

Robert Norton Look and his bride Mary Ann Champion Board were married at St Mary Magdalene Church, Ditcheat on 10 May 1910. This photo may have been taken at the bride’s home which was Pennard Hill Farm, East Pennard. They did not get married at Pennard church (which would have been usual) because the Board family had fallen out with the vicar, so they were married in Robert's fathers parish church.  The honeymoon was spent in London and they stayed at the Strand Palace Hotel.
